Get to Know Eva

I am a sophomore at the University of Maryland, College Park studying Public Policy and Government and Politics. I am from East Brunswick, New Jersey. As a Media, Self, and Society scholar, I believe that the way we consume media has a large impact on our lives. Over the past year and a half, I have learned how media influences every decision we make as humans. As someone who is passionate about policy and politics, I have found the work we have done in Media Scholars to be really helpful in analyzing events such as the 2020 election. When I chose my scholars program after my UMD acceptance, I wanted a program that would enhance my experience as a college student and provide a unique perspective that would complement my public policy and government programs. I made the right choice in choosing Media, Self, and Society because I have been able to analyze politics while also learning about other types of media like film and television. Although I do not know exactly what job I want to have after college, I know I want to work on political campaigns and potentially as a political consultant. In order to excel in these roles, I need to be well-rounded and self-aware about how my work impacts others. My experience as a Media Scholar has done just that. I have become a pragmatic thinker who can recognize fake news, for example. I am grateful for my time as a media scholar and will use the skills I have learned throughout my career as a student and beyond.

Eva's Choice for News

MSNBC

I watch MSNBC to get my news coverage. I believe they do a great job of providing critical analysis to the daily news of our world. I found their recent election coverage to be very thorough and truthful.
